Case Study - Safe Base Care
When asked by Personnel Checks if I was able to write a case study about my experience with the company, I was only happy to help.
As the Director of Safe Base Care, a children’s home care provider, having an effective and reliable DBS Check provider is imperative.
I started using Personnel Checks in December 2013, after complaining to a friend that criminal record checks from my current provider were taking far too long, in many cases I was waiting for up to 8 weeks before new members of staff could start work.
These delays were starting to affect my business as new employees couldn’t begin work until their checks had been completed and many couldn’t afford to be out of work for so long whilst waiting for their checks to come back.

Finding a Fast DBS Check Provider
I came across the Personnel Checks website which looked by far the simplest out of a few and called and spoke with Alice. I explained my issues but was worried that the grass wouldn’t be greener. Would I be waiting even longer than I am now if I start using this company?

Making My Mind Up

Although my other provider charged a little less, I’m more than happy to pay slightly more for an 11 day service rather than wait for 2 months!
It’s not just the speed that I’m happier with, it’s the service in general. The customer service is fantastic and no matter who I speak with, they’re able to deal with my request.
Online DBS Checking Service
I know Personnel Checks offer an online payment service via their website but I prefer to call and order my checks over the phone so I know I’m dealing with real people and not a robot! Plus I enjoy speaking with the team as they’re very friendly and always able to answer any little queries I have.
One of the most impressive parts of the package for me is the online self service system which allows me to set up applications, as well as track their progress.
It only takes 30 seconds to check the status of an application and the system is incredibly easy to navigate – all you need is the applicant’s reference number and date of birth.
I can also see which of my applicant’s still need to complete parts of their form which makes it so easy to manage my company’s DBS Checking process.

I honestly can’t fault the service I receive from Personnel Checks, it’s fluid, professional and more importantly, transparent. I can see exactly what’s going on with my account at any time with the click of a button.
My staff are much happier as they can begin work earlier which means our working relationship now starts off on a positive note.
I’m saving so much time not having to go through the interview process several times for the same role as the applicant’s don’t need to look elsewhere for work as their checks are coming back so quickly.
